Jameis Winston, New Orleans Saints

Like Trubisky, Winston is also a former first-round pick (No. 1 overall, actually) but he’s never played up to that hype. He has played some great games and posted some solid numbers. Admittedly, the Saints were a much better team with him in the lineup.

But his play is far too erratic and his propensity to make mistakes including bad decisions and mind-numbing throws is far too frequent. He is a good athlete and has the arm talent, but does he really tip the scales for a team? After all, he’s never led a team to the playoffs.

And that didn’t happen due to a lack of talent around him. Tom Brady basically won the Super Bowl with the same team Winston missed the playoffs with just one year earlier.

Winston is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent and there could be a few teams interested in his services. The Saints will likely consider bringing him back and a team like the Carolina Panthers could be in the mix.

If my options are Lock and a rookie out of the draft or Winston, give me the first option there.
