What should the Denver Broncos do with former second-round quarterback Drew Lock?
The Denver Broncos took quarterback Drew Lock in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, expecting him to be the best quarterback they’ve had since Peyton Manning. That unfortunately has yet to happen.
Lock was beaten out by Teddy Bridgewater as the starter for the 2021 season, though some people would say that Lock never got a fighting chance to win that job. Bridgewater failed and it would be very surprising if he ended up back with the Broncos in 2022 (he’s an unrestricted free agent this offseason).
Lock is 8-13 as a starter for the Broncos, including a streak where he went 4-1 as a rookie at the end of the 2019 season.
Following his rookie starts, there was plenty of optimism but it has been up and down since then. It’s hard to know what Lock will end up being. He has the talent but just can’t seem to put it together into strong enough performances.
Lock is entering his final year on his rookie contract. What should the Denver Broncos do with him? Here are three possibilities with my thoughts.
