Denver Broncos team MVP no. 3: Baron Browning

When Josey Jewell and Alexander Johnson went down in the 2021 season with season-ending injuries, many wondered who would step up.

Enter, Baron Browning.

Browning, a sensational rookie athlete out of Ohio State, seemed to adjust to the NFL quite nicely.

He became the “green dot” of the defense; he was one of the main communicators of the offense and was able to help the Broncos defense finish the 2021 season as the 3rd best in scoring.

While it was by no means smooth, Browning’s rookie season was promising, and his versatility will allow the new Broncos defensive coordinator to use him as a linebacker and pass rusher, much like Micah Parsons is used in Dallas.

Since Josey Jewell and Alexander Johnson are both free agents, Baron Browning has a golden opportunity to bring long-term stability to the Broncos middle of the defense.

Denver ranked in the middle of the pack in 2021 with their rush defense, and it was clear that was the weak point of the defense.

With Browning having a year under his belt, he is in a great position to claim one of the Broncos’ starting linebacker positions and elevate to new heights in 2022.
