Denver Broncos team MVP no. 2: Patrick Surtain II

One could argue that Surtain was the Broncos’ best defensive player this season.  A surprise pick out of Alabama in the 2021 NFL Draft, Patrick Surtain II has all the makings of a shutdown corner.

He’s excellent in man coverage, has above-average speed and size, and is wildly intelligent.

Even better, Surtain will be just 22 during the entirety of his second season.

He had 4 interceptions, which ranked near the top of the NFL, 1 pick-six, and 58 total tackles.

For reference, he had as many interceptions as Jalen Ramsey, more total tackles than Xavien Howard, and as many tackles and J.C. Jackson.

In a division filled with high-powered passing attacks, Patrick Surtain II is a crucial piece of the Denver Broncos defense.

With the Denver Broncos zeroing in on hiring a Vic Fangio disciple as the new defensive coordinator, look for Patrick Surtain II to pick up right where he left off in 2021.

Surtain is poised to have an All-Pro caliber season, and all eyes will be on the defense to see if the team can still maintain their elite play in 2021 with the departure of Vic Fangio.
