The Denver Broncos are expected to hire a familiar coach, with a familiar name. Klint Kubiak will become the Broncos’ new pass game coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

With the Denver Broncos landing their new head coach in Nathaniel Hackett, the focus has shifted to building both the offensive and defensive staff for this team.

Kubiak comes in high regard from the Minnesota Vikings, is the son of former Broncos Super Bowl-winning coach Gary Kubiak, and was an offensive assistant for Denver from 2016 to 2018.

Kubiak will look to be a key member of Nathaniel Hackett’s offensive staff. While Hackett will be calling the plays for the Broncos offense, Kubiak will serve a pivotal role in helping or developing whichever quarterback is in play for Denver this season.

What can we expect from Kubiak in his return to the Broncos?

With the Broncos looking to implement a West Coast offensive scheme under Hackett, it only makes sense to build a staff familiar with that style of offense. Kubiak has worked under multiple coaches that bring a variety of concepts related to the west coast style.

The Denver offense was not efficient enough this past season, and Hackett will look to add more explosiveness and juice on the field. In order to achieve this, the Broncos must get good production from the quarterback but also get their top pass-catchers more involved in the offense. The hiring of Kubiak will be a positive step in that direction.

Kubiak spent the last three seasons with the Vikings as their QB coach from 2019 to 2020 and was their offensive coordinator in 2021. Under his watch, QB Kirk Cousins had multiple years of successful quarterback play. This past season, Cousins threw for 4,221 yards and 33 touchdowns with having only seven interceptions and a quarterback rating of 103.1.

On top of Cousins, another name to look at is the emergence of WR Justin Jefferson who has exploded onto the NFL scene since entering the league in 2020. Jefferson had 1616 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns in 2021.

If these numbers are any indication of what Kubiak has brought in the past, we could see a spike in production from the Broncos wide-outs.

With Nathaniel Hackett calling the plays and an experienced QB coach coordinating the passing game, Denver appears to be gearing up for a much more explosive offense.
