3. Cornerback Darious Williams could boost the Broncos secondary

Darious Williams is also going to be a free agent this offseason. With the Denver Broncos looking at current Los Angeles Rams secondary coach, Ejiro Evero, this move could make sense.

Coming off of a year where he had 67 solo tackles, Williams could be a nice addition to a cornerback group that could use some run support. Williams allowed 53 receptions of 81 targets, which isn’t fantastic, but it isn’t awful either.

If Evero likes Williams enough, he may try to bring him along to the Mile High City.

There is also a lowkey need at the cornerback position for the Denver Broncos in 2022, but not for a top-flight cornerback necessarily, but someone who can play pivotal minutes in pivotal games. Williams is just 5-foot-9, 187 pounds, so he could be a natural replacement for Bryce Callahan.

In 2020, Williams intercepted four passes and broke up 14 passes, while allowing a passer rating of just 61. For Williams, and many other number two cornerbacks in the NFL, when you play on the opposite side of Jalen Ramsey, you will be targeted.

What each individual does with that is solely on the, however, Williams has answered that call. Williams is also a very willing tackler with 67 solo tackles on the season. He has allowed 53 receptions this season on 81 targets, without an interception, but he does have nine passed defended.

In a situation where the Denver Broncos lose Bryce Callahan, Kyle Fuller, and Nate Hairston, there will be a hole in the secondary. Adding someone like Darious Williams, along with Ejiro Evero, could even improve the team’s cornerback room from last season.

It has been said that the Los Angeles Rams would like to sign Williams to an extension, but that has yet to happen. Maybe hiring his position coach could sway him into trading in the blue and yellow for blue and orange.
