Free agents the Denver Broncos must stay away from in 2022

2. Brandon Scherff, OG

The Denver Broncos need to improve the interior of their offensive line.  While Brandon Scherff is an amazing talent, he is not who the Broncos need to target.

Scherff, 30, was the 5th overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft.

A five-time Pro Bowler, Scherff is elite at what he does.  The problem is, though, is that he cannot stay healthy.

He played a full season during his first two years in the league but has not done that since.

He played 13 games in 2020, and just 11 in 2021.  His low mark came in 2018, where he played in just 8 games.

When on the field, Scherff is the best lineman, but that’s the issue.

He’s projected to get a deal worth around $13 million per year on the open market.   That’s a hefty deal for someone who has not played a full season since 2016.

While it may be tempting, it isn’t worth it.
