Denver Broncos surprise #3: Bobby Massie, RT

When former Denver Broncos’ right tackle Ja’Wuan James went down with an injury, the team quickly signed Bobby Massie and Cameron Fleming.

Bobby Massie won the starting job over Fleming and Calvin Anderson and had a very solid year for Denver.

It was refreshing to finally see decent production out of the right tackle spot, which has been a revolving door for years.

Massie wasn’t excellent, but he was in the top half of tackles in the NFL.  Massie’s 71.0 PFF grade and being hit with just one penalty all season is a true indictment of how solid he was.  I understand that the Broncos probably want to get younger at the position, but there is no reason why the team should not bring him back for another year or two.

Massie brought stability to the position, and he, along with Garett Bolles makes a very formidable tackle duo.

Plus, who knows, maybe Massie can take an even bigger leap in year two with offensive line guru Mike Munchak.
