Denver Broncos surprise #2: Javonte Williams, RB

Even while splitting carries with Melvin Gordon, Williams nearly had 1,000 yards on the ground.  He did have over 1,000 scrimmage yards, which is impressive given the workload.

Javonte Williams proved to be one of, if not the hardest running back to tackle, and his big plays were exciting.  Remember when he was carrying Marlon Humphrey on his back for about 15 yards?

Javonte Williams has all the makings of the league’s next Jonathan Taylor, which is exciting.  With the team unlikely to retain Melvin Gordon, Williams is set to be the bell cow in year two.

No one who watched Broncos’ games needs me to explain how dynamic and exciting he was.  I think it’s pretty safe to say he was the league’s best rookie running back, and all eyes will be on him for year 2.

I would look for Williams to rush for 1,500 yards or more, even if the Broncos land a high-quality quarterback.  Javonte Williams is set for a monster sophomore season.
