Who could the Denver Broncos trade with during NFL Draft?

Teams trade their draft picks all the time, and the Denver Broncos were active doing this last year, so who are candidates to trade with them this year?

The Denver Broncos currently hold the 9th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.  Yet another year with a top 10 pick, but many across Broncos Country think we won’t have that pick, as we could trade it in a package for a quarterback.

While that is possible, it’s also possible that the team is picking in that 9th spot, and they could trade up or down with a team depending on how the draft board falls.

I’m sure if the Broncos are willing to part with their 9th overall pick and more for a quarterback, they’d have no issue using that 9th pick to move up or down in the draft board.

Who are some teams that the Broncos could trade with before or during the NFL draft?

Green Bay Packers, Seattle Seahawks

If the Broncos want Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson if they become available, they will have to trade their 9th overall pick plus much more.  The Broncos have documented interest in both players, and George Paton said at the beginning of his tenure that he’d be in on every deal, so it’s no surprise that the Broncos would make a deal with either of these teams.

Yeah, it would stink not having that high draft pick, but the prospects of having a Hall of Fame quarterback is worth more than the 1st overall pick.

If a trade like this were to happen, we’d see it happen between now and the draft, obviously.  Neither Russell Wilson nor Aaron Rodgers would be traded after the draft.

New York Giants

One of the New York Giants’ biggest issues is their offensive line, and with 2 top 10 picks, they can very easily solve their issue by taking multiple high-ranking prospects.  They need almost every position along the line, and the Denver Broncos themselves could use someone else along the interior.

The Giants hold picks 5 and 7 in the NFL draft, and the Broncos could try and trade up to the 7th pick to ensure neither they nor the Atlanta Falcons, who pick 8th overall, take an offensive lineman.

I’m not sure what the Giants’ plan is, but even if they take a lineman at pick 5, there are still uber-talented players to take at 7, so the Broncos jumping up two spots would make a lot of sense if they want someone like Kenyon Green or Tyler Linderbaum.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles have three first-round picks.  They pick at 15, 16, and 19.  They have holes but were a playoff team this year, and surely would be willing to be active with any of these picks.

The Broncos have a need along the EDGE, and Michigan’s David Ojabo might help solve that issue.

The only thing is, Ojabo being picked at 9th overall is a bit too high, and maybe the Broncos don’t want to reach and take their chances by trading down and acquiring more draft capital.

The Broncos could call the Eagles and see if they would be interested in moving up several slots.

This would allow the Broncos to add another pick or two and grab a quality player.  I think it’s somewhat likely that the Eagles trade one or more of their first-round picks for a quarterback, but there’s also nothing wrong with holding onto them.  Teams will be calling about their three first-round picks, and they would be wise to answer the phone.
