Denver Broncos land Desmond Ridder in 2022 mock draft

This will certainly be a polarizing selection for many in Broncos Country who clearly already have a wide variety of opinions regarding Cincinnati’s Desmond Ridder.

Ridder has started a lot of games for the Bearcats and helped get them into the College Football Playoff this past season, throwing for 3,334 yards and 30 touchdowns along with just eight interceptions. He completed 64.9 percent of his passes, and while his decision-making wasn’t always consistent, Ridder has played a lot of football.

He’s a hard worker. He’s a leader. He’s got freaky physical skills and ran for 18 touchdowns over the last two seasons.

Ridder may be polarizing, but the tools are all there for a longtime starter in the NFL and he certainly has the work habits to be great.

If you’re the Denver Broncos and you don’t get an elite or top-tier veteran QB, the dart throws on day two of this particular draft class could be very interesting and worthwhile.

Think about what the Eagles did with Jalen Hurts in the 2020 NFL Draft. Hurts was not a finished product, by any means, but he has all of the tools and work habits, and makeup.

That risk has really worked out, especially as the Eagles have utilized the running game to their advantage.

The Broncos could do something similar with Ridder or even a guy like Malik Willis if they can get them in round two or at the bottom of round one.
