2022 Trade Targets for Denver

3. Fletcher Cox, DL, Philadelphia Eagles

Apparently, Fletcher Cox was nearly traded before this season’s trade deadline. Cox, a six-time Pro Bowler and perhaps a future Hall of Famer, might be on his way out of Philly.

Cox, who is 31, has missed just five games in his career.  He’s accumulated 58.0 sacks from the interior and is one of the better defensive linemen in the NFL, even at his older age.

Seeing as the Denver Broncos are, yet again, in a position to be competitive if they can just find a quarterback, trading for Fletcher Cox might be in their best interest.

Contractually, it is a bit hard for Philly to pull a trade off during the offseason, but if they would want to move on from him, they would surely rather get something for him instead of simply cutting him.

The Broncos’ defensive line is solid, but Mike Purcell seemed to regress in 2021, and both he and Shelby Harris are older.

I understand that Cox is 31, but he’s still amazingly talented and gives the Broncos another body on the inside.

Perhaps the Broncos would want to go with a younger route instead and target a free agent or draft pick, but there is no denying what Fletcher Cox would bring to the Denver Broncos defense.
