Joe Judge has been let go as Head Coach of the New York Giants. The Denver Broncos should consider hiring him to be the Special Teams Coordinator.
The Denver Broncos, over the past few seasons, have truly put the special in special teams.
Formerly led by Tom McMahon, the Denver Broncos special teams unit consistently ranked at or near the very bottom in the NFL. Continually giving up long returns and touchdown returns, the special teams were simply always a liability.
With a new staff set to takeover in Broncos Country, Tom McMahon surely will not return.
New York Giants Head Coach Joe Judge has been let go, and the Denver Broncos should consider hiring him to be the team’s new Special Teams Coordinator.
Clearly, Joe Judge is not cut out to be an NFL head coach, or at least not yet.
The Giants are in an even worse place than the Denver Broncos as a franchise; they’ve hit the rockiest of bottoms, and their future doesn’t look promising even if they move on from Judge.
George Paton is a smart man. He can see that the Broncos’ special teams unit is perhaps the worst in the NFL, so I’m sure this will be brought up during the head coaching interview process.
Rarely do we see a new head coach administration not get to pick their own staff, but an exception should be made for the Broncos and their (very) special teams unit.
Joe Judge has been a special teams coach his entire career.
Judge had been with the New England Patriots before coming over to the Giants. From 2012-2014, he served as the special teams assistant, and from 2015-2019, he served as the special teams coordinator.
While it was difficult to find specific special teams rankings that weren’t in a paywall, this article briefly mentions the New England Patriots’ special teams dominance during the Belichick tenure.
Judge is also just the second person in NFL history to be hired as a head coach directly from a special teams job.
Clearly, Joe Judge’s special teams acumen is about as high as can be.
Denver Broncos realistic trade targets for the 2022 Season
As the 2022 offseason is now closely approaching, the Denver Broncos should call around the league to try and trade for some veteran players.
With this information known, the Denver Broncos should essentially throw a blank check Judge’s way to be the team’s special teams coordinator, now that he is let go from New York.
