2. Diontae Spencer, wide receiver/return specialist

Diontae Spencer had a game-altering muffed punt against the Los Angeles Chargers last weekend, which was probably the last straw for pretty much everybody regarding his future status with the team.

As the team’s primary return specialist, Spencer has been a disappointment in 2021. He is good at catching punts for the most part, but he has not been able to break free and really make any game-changing plays in that phase of the game, at least not good game-changing plays, since Week 14 of the 2020 season when he took a punt back for a score against the Panthers.

It just appears as though Spencer’s explosiveness is not there and it has felt at times throughout the 2021 season that teams are even deliberately kicking him the ball on kickoffs so that he will take it out.

Offensively, Spencer has not produced anything. He has been out there at times running in motion and giving the appearance that he could be a threat, but the reality is, Spencer has been anything but, unfortunately.

When he was acquired off of waivers from the Steelers, Spencer was a godsend for the Broncos. A couple of years later, and it’s clear that he won’t likely be back with the team in 2022.
