5 Denver Broncos players who could follow Vic Fangio if he’s let go
4. Kareem Jackson, safety
One of the first moves the Denver Broncos made in free agency back in 2019 after Vic Fangio was hired was signing former Houston Texans first-round pick Kareem Jackson to a three-year deal.
Jackson’s contract option for the 2021 season was actually initially declined by the Broncos and general manager George Paton before both Jackson and the Broncos decided on a reunion at a reduced rate.
Entering his mid-30s, Jackson is still playing at a high level and seems to have found something special as a safety after playing most of his career pre-Denver at the cornerback position.
Because of the success Jackson has had in Fangio’s scheme, I can’t help but wonder if he might follow Fangio to wherever his next stop in the NFL will be.
Let’s say Fangio moves on to a team like the Dallas Cowboys if some team (maybe the Broncos) hires Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn. Jackson lives in Texas still (remember, he spent the majority of his career with Houston) so that could be a natural transition.
Even if Fangio would move to another team elsewhere in the NFL like the Rams or 49ers or maybe the Packers, it would not shock me to see Jackson move with him if that team is a legitimate championship threat.
