Utilizing similar logic as with Josey Jewell, it would make plenty of sense to see a player like Alexander Johnson leave the Denver Broncos in 2022 and join Vic Fangio wherever he goes.

Johnson was obviously the second starter at inside linebacker for the Broncos entering the 2021 season and although he had a down 2020 campaign, he’s made a lot of strides as a player under Fangio and was one of the players whose contributions usually led to a stout run defense.

At his best, Johnson is a true three-down playmaker with size and range, but his most valuable contributions come when he can use his instincts in the running game and attack the line of scrimmage.

Fangio has had Johnson do a lot of attacking in the last couple of years, sending him on a metric ton of blitzes.

Because Johnson found success in the NFL in Fangio’s defense, I wouldn’t be surprised if he joins Fangio again in 2022, especially if he has to take a prove-it deal with another team after suffering a pectoral injury in 2021.

Johnson would undoubtedly want to go to a defense and scheme where he could earn a big-money contract after next season.
