The Denver Broncos have a number of key free agents on the defensive side of the ball. If Vic Fangio is let go, who could follow him to his next spot?

With just one game remaining in the 2021 regular season, it really feels as though major changes are on the very near horizon for the Denver Broncos, starting with the coaching staff.

The Broncos have simply failed to make necessary strides in Vic Fangio’s three years at the helm of the franchise. Although they have improved in some key areas — player development at a handful of positions, lower penalties, red zone defensive efficiency — there are simply far too many areas of weakness to ignore since Fangio has been hired.

Notably, the Broncos are not getting much better in the wins department, the most important area of all.

In Fangio’s three seasons on the job with the Broncos, the team has a record of 19-29. For the first time in his tenure, the team was playoff-relevant in December, but it was obviously short-lived.

If the Broncos do wind up moving on from Vic Fangio, it stands to reason that a number of players will move on with him. We saw players really blossom under Fangio in Denver and we also saw a number of players follow him to Denver in the first place.

Looking ahead, who are some prospective 2022 free agents for the Broncos and players who could follow Vic Fangio if, indeed, he’s let go by the Broncos?
