4 positives from the Broncos’ lost 2021 season

4. George Paton has built up the 2022 NFL Draft war chest

What cannot be overstated about the 2021 season?

General manager George Paton has really built up his war chest of 2022 NFL Draft picks.

The 2022 NFL Draft class may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but there are players in it that could potentially make a major impact on the Denver Broncos’ roster and if they can put together a real-life draft like this mock draft I recently put together, the roster might be on its way to the top of the league.

Even if the Denver Broncos don’t go about the 2022 NFL Draft like I’m predicting in these way-too-early mock draft situations, the prevailing thought is that the selections they now have after the Von Miller trade will set them up to be as flexible as they want or need to be this offseason.

The Broncos now have the type of NFL Draft capital that they could legitimately make a big run at a big-name QB, should any become available.

If not, the Broncos will be able to move up the draft board for a QB of their choosing. Or, they will have the flexibility to move down and around the board to accumulate additional capital down the road, too.

Again, ultimate flexibility.

The draft capital this team has is setting up the team for a very bright future. The coaching staff will obviously be priority number one, but there are reasons for Broncos Country to be excited, even in a lost season.
