Following a crushing loss to the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 16, the last thing Denver Broncos fans likely want to hear about is the playoffs. But the team can still get in.

The Broncos are not a team that deserves to be in the postseason and if they somehow snuck in, would likely be quickly bounced based on the way the team has been playing. Yet, there is still a path in which the team could find its way in.

However, as you would probably expect, it will take a combination of several things to take place. Here is what would need to happen in the final two weeks of the regular season, which of course, would include the Broncos winning both of their final two games.

Week 17

The Broncos face the Los Angeles Chargers, who they already defeated earlier in the season. They would have to complete the season sweep of that team, which Denver also accomplished in 2019, Vic Fangio‘s first season with the team.

The Los Angeles Rams would need to beat the Baltimore Ravens, who could have Lamar Jackson back at quarterback.

The Tennessee Titans would need to beat the surging Miami Dolphins and the Cleveland Browns would need to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football.

Both the Titans-Dolphins game and the Rams-Ravens game kick off at 11:00 MST and if the Ravens or Dolphins win their game, the Broncos will be eliminated before even taking the field against the Chargers.

That’s a precarious position to be in.

Week 18

If the Broncos manage to still be mathematically alive come the final week of the season, they would still need another series of happenings to take place in their favor.

The Steelers would need to defeat the Ravens and the Cincinnati Bengals would need to go over the Browns in AFC North action.

The New England Patriots would have to beat the Dolphins and then the Broncos would need some help from the Chargers to beat the Raiders.

That would all have to be joined by the Broncos ending a 12-game losing streak against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Seems simple, right? It’s not and it’s highly unlikely, but this has been wild NFL season and it’s still possible.

The Broncos are looking to get to the postseason for the first time since 2015. The only team in the league with a longer active playoff drought is the New York Jets, who are sitting on 11 straight seasons without a playoff berth and that number will go to 12 following this season.
