2022 Landing Spots for Vic Fangio

4. Dallas Cowboys, Defensive coordinator

Dan Quinn, in his first year as the defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys, has overseen a much improved unit, which has propelled Dallas into NFL relevancy once again.

Mike McCarthy made the right choice in bringing in Quinn for the 2021 season, but the downfall of this is that Quinn is now being sought after for soon-to-be-vacant NFL head coaching vacancies.

If Quinn does leave, McCarthy will have to hire his third defensive coordinator in as many years.

Enter Vic Fangio.

The last time Fangio coached in Texas was as the defensive coordinator for the Houston Texans from 2002-2005.  With the Dallas Cowboys being such a popular team, and being that Texas is, well, Texas, Fangio might have quite a bit of interest in coming down to Dallas.

Plus, geographically, Denver isn’t that far from Dallas. Even though Dallas’ defense has clearly improved from 2020, it’s still the weakpoint of their roster, so hiring Fangio if Dan Quinn leaves makes a lot of sense.
