2022 Landing Spots for Vic Fangio

2. Los Angeles Chargers, Defensive coordinator

The Los Angeles Chargers are in year one of the Brandon Staley experiment, and there have been mixed results.

The Chargers are 8-7, and in my opinion, have underachieved based on the national perception of the team going into the season.  Staley is great in front of a microphone, and has shot up the ranks, formerly a linebackers coach with the Denver Broncos.

Two years later, Staley is a head coach, but his defensive expertise is clearly not working so far with his Chargers.

Their current defensive coordinator is Renaldo Hill, who served on the Broncos’ staff as early as 2020. The former Broncos DB is currently overseeing one of the worst defenses in the NFL, a defense that allowed Davis Mills and the lowly Houston Texans to drop 41 points on them.

Since there are tons of Denver-LA connections at play here, it would make a ton of sense for Vic Fangio to join one of his disciples in LA.

The Chargers defense is seemingly the only thing holding them back, and Fangio would be one to make that defense better.
