Denver Broncos head coach watchlist: Dan Quinn, DC, Cowboys

For the time being, Dan Quinn is the only defensive-minded head coach on this list. That could change, of course.

Quinn has done an outstanding job with the Dallas Cowboys this season, and he has prior ties to George Paton.

There is definitely some substance to the relationship or potential relationship between the Broncos GM and Dan Quinn, which could ultimately lead to a union between the two in Denver just about seven years after Quinn initially wanted to pair up with Paton in the first place.

Quinn, of course, was the defensive coordinator of the Legion of Boom in Seattle. He then coached the Atlanta Falcons to a Super Bowl appearance before getting fired last season and jumping on with the Dallas Cowboys.

Now, he has a legitimate chance of making another appearance in the Super Bowl, this time with Dallas, as that team has tremendous balance on both sides of the ball, and at their best, they are elite on both sides of the ball.

Broncos Country seems to be rather split on the idea of hiring Dan Quinn. On the one hand, his experience and obvious prowess as a defensive play-caller are attractive. On the other, hiring Quinn feels like it could be something of a lateral move from Vic Fangio.

Still, he does seem to be one of the best candidates currently available.
