Could Deshaun Watson save the Denver Broncos in 2022?

There are so many factors with the Deshaun Watson to consider that I contemplated even putting him on this list.

Off the field, things are a mess for Watson and right now, no one knows how the allegations against him will be resolved.

For many, talking about Watson’s football future is not even on the radar at this point, and that is fair.

We will see what the future holds for Watson as far as his NFL career. If he is able to get back to football and get his legal situation resolved, you would have to think the Broncos would be among a number of teams significantly interested.

Prior to what came to light in the 2021 offseason, Watson was a legitimate MVP candidate and was contending for the “best young QB” crown with the likes of Patrick Mahomes and others.

Maybe by the time the Texans are able to trade Watson, the Broncos and others will have already moved on to other options. All along, the rumors have been that if Watson were made available, the Broncos would have interest, but only if his legal issues were resolved.

It seems that was a unanimous stance from Watson’s potential suitors as he remained in Houston for the entirety of the 2021 season, under contract, and not suspended by the league but obviously not playing, either.

Watson has a no-trade clause in his contract and is rumored to be interested in playing only for the Miami Dolphins. We’ll see if that stance changes in the 2022 offseason or if the Dolphins even want to make that move.

As far as his on-field abilities go, Watson would set the Denver Broncos up for the next decade at the position to compete at a high level.
