Could Baker Mayfield help save the Denver Broncos in 2022?

Leading up to the 2018 NFL Draft, it felt like the Denver Broncos really liked Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield.

Mayfield was obviously drafted number one overall by the Cleveland Browns, had a phenomenal rookie season, and has sort of fallen off since that time.

Mayfield’s inconsistencies have led to an extremely disappointing 2021 campaign for the Cleveland Browns, a darkhorse candidate for some going into the season as a possible Super Bowl team.

With Mayfield’s rookie contract coming up on its expiration, will the Browns try to move on from him?

That seems far-fetched even now, but you never know what is going to happen in the crazy world that is the NFL.

Mayfield is just 26 going on 27. Better days could be ahead for him. He helped lead the Browns to 11 wins with 26 touchdowns and just eight interceptions a season ago.

With the weapons the Broncos have at the wide receiver position, perhaps the Mile High City would be a better fit for him long-term.

If the Browns decide to move on from Mayfield in the 2022 offseason, the Broncos should be in line as suitors.
