Wish List for the Denver Broncos

3. Upgrade the Interior Offensive Line

The Broncos’ offensive line is average.  They aren’t usually particularly great or particularly bad.  Mike Munchak has done a solid job as the team’s offensive line coach, but I think some reinforcements are needed, especially at left guard and center.

I am low on both Dalton Risner and Lloyd Cushenberry.  I think they are the two weakest links along that line, and I would rather George Paton try to fill these holes instead of hoping each player could take a step forward in their development for 2022.

Dalton Risner has seemed to regress since entering the league in 2019, and while Lloyd Cushenberry has been better than his rookie season, he was also the league’s worst center last year, so he had nowhere else to go but up.

My specific wish is for George Paton to solve one of these positions with a significant free agent upgrade.

At guard, names that I would love to see in orange and blue would be Brandon Scherff of the Washington Football Team, and Mark Glowinski, who is a part of the deadly Colts running attack.  Both players are extremely talented and present a massive upgrade from Risner.

Netane Muti, who is in his second year, could very well also take a leap forward and earn a starting spot for 2022, but I’m not sure how likely that is.

At center, the biggest free-agent name is Ryan Jensen of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Jason Kelce will also be a free agent, but he is clearly a short-term fix and could very well retire.

Ben Jones of the Tennessee Titans is another solid player, but he is 32.  Any three of these men would be very solid options for Denver, and would further solidify the offensive line.

Targeting a player in the draft is obviously another option, but there is no guarantee they can step in as a rookie and supplant a 2021 starter.
