The Denver Broncos sit at 7-6, and with 4 games remaining, will need several key players to step up and help the team’s playoff push.

For the first time in many years, the Denver Broncos are playing meaningful December football.  Yeah, the team hasn’t been perfect, and their 7-6 record is rather unimpressive, but they are still firmly in the playoff mix, and at this point last year, were 5-8 and all but out of it.

The Broncos have four games remaining, all against teams who are either in or still can make the playoffs.  The last quarter of the season will not be a cakewalk by any means, and the team will need to play its best version of Denver Broncos football if they want to make the dance.

While the entire team does need to step up, I believe there are a few players who need to step up more so than others.

The Broncos’ 20th ranked scoring offense will need to play better, given that their final four games are all against lethal offenses, and the 2nd ranked scoring defense needs to limit the big plays and touchdown drives.

So, which players need to step up the most?  Let’s take a look!

Denver Broncos Who Need to Step Up

1. Teddy Bridgewater, QB

Duh.  Of course, Teddy Two Gloves needs to step up.  He’s actually played relatively well this season and has done exactly what the coaching staff expected him to do.  He has managed the offense and limited the turnovers.

On his current pace, Teddy is on pace to throw for another five touchdown passes and would finish with 23 on the season.

However, I do not think that would be enough for my liking.  In my opinion, Teddy needs to take more shots down the field, especially on 2nd and short situations.  I think the offense needs to establish the run game, and throw the ball down the field out of play action.

Personally, I was looking for that during the team’s last game against the Lions.  The Broncos ran the ball like crazy and were able to get into 2nd and short situations.  I would have liked to have seen the offense take deep shots, seeing as the team has two, 6’4″ X receivers at their disposal.

I’m not sure why the offense didn’t try that, but I think they’ll definitely need some explosive plays starting on Sunday.

Courtland Sutton and Tim Patrick need to be more involved with the offense, and Teddy Bridgewater is the one who needs to get them the ball.
