The Denver Broncos had a good day in Week 14 in more ways than one.

Not only did the Broncos roll the Detroit Lions, but they also saw their playoff chances take a positive bump based on several Week 14 results.

The Broncos came into the game against Detroit with a 6-6 record and though the team has suffered multiple embarrassing losses this season, these games helped the Broncos’ playoff position.

The Vikings and Steelers played on Thursday Night Football and though the Steelers threatened to complete one of the best comebacks in the history of the league, the Vikings had just enough to beat them and drop them to 6-6-1 on the year.

One of the teams in the AFC West needs to fall off eventually and that could be the Raiders, who have gone through a tumultuous year. This loss drops them to 6-7 on the year.

No, Broncos fans don’t like to root for the Chiefs to win, but let’s be honest, the chances of the Broncos earning a Wild Card are much higher than those that they will win the division.

42. 23. 56. Final. 26

This game went into overtime and it was the 49ers who came away with a huge win, dropping the Bengals to the same 7-6 mark that the Broncos sit at.

Who do the Broncos play next? The Bengals.

That is going to be an extremely important game and could be seen as a playoff eliminator of sorts.

16. 33. 48. Final. 27

This game also went into overtime and it was the Bucs who walked off on a long touchdown pass from Tom Brady to Breshad Perriman. That dropped the Bills to 7-6. What has happened to them?

Not long ago, the Bills were seen as the best team in the AFC. If the season ended today, they would be sitting in the final spot in the AFC playoffs.

Where do the Broncos currently sit?

If you’re ranking the teams in the AFC, the Broncos currently sit in the No. 10 spot, but they are well within striking distance. The only other things the Broncos could have asked for on Sunday would have been for the New York Giants to upset the Los Angeles Chargers and the Baltimore Ravens to defeat the Cleveland Browns.

The Broncos are one of five AFC teams that currently hold a 7-6 record. If the season were to end today, two of those teams would be in the playoffs.
