Denver Broncos players to watch vs. Lions: Javonte Williams, running back
Fresh off of one of the most productive games of his young NFL career, the time is now for Javonte Williams to assert his dominance against a Detroit Lions defense that is the 5th-worst in the NFL in total rushing yardage allowed.
As the Broncos’ offense looks to get back on track after a very uneven performance against the Kansas City Chiefs, it will be crucial for Javonte Williams and Melvin Gordon to take care of business in the running game to set up Teddy Bridgewater and the passing attack.
Williams did exactly that against the Chiefs, but Bridgewater was unable to capitalize on the running game’s dominance.
In this game, he will get another shot.
Williams is one of the best backs in the NFL at breaking tackles already, and that ability has given the Broncos the chance now to remain in favorable down-and-distance situations, which obviously helps the passing game tremendously.
At least, in theory it does.
7 Denver Broncos free agents and others who won’t be back in 2022
The Denver Broncos have a handful of important free agents on expiring contracts and other players who will not be back in the 2022 offseason.
Williams is just 61 yards away from 1,000 yards from scrimmage in his rookie season. He’s been an absolute stud for the Broncos all season and we should see more of the same in Week 14 as he has run for over 100 yards in two of his last four games.
