Round 1, Pick 25 – Devin Lloyd, LB Utah

Trade: Denver trades the 48th, 79th, and 84th picks to Dallas for the 25th pick

Yeah, I am essentially George Paton at this point. In an aggressive move to get one of the most polarizing defensive players in the draft who managed to drop to 25th overall, I made the choice to solve the Denver Broncos’ linebacker conundrum going into next season.

Denver lost both starting linebackers this season to injury and has played a hodgepodge of players to replicate the missing backers. With Baron Browning coming into his own as an NFL linebacker, the opportunity to pair him with a possibly elite talent was too much to pass up.

Utah’s Devin Lloyd has emerged as one of the top, if not THE top, linebackers in the draft. He has excellent ability to move sideline-to-sideline and is very fluid in zone coverage.

A converted safety, Lloyd has great instincts but still can improve in his run defense. He does, however, come downhill very hard with amazing closing speed and has great open-field tackling ability due to his length.
