Denver Broncos other options in the return game

Rico Gafford (practice squad WR)

Rico Gafford is a defensive back turned wide receiver who might be the fastest player on the Denver Broncos’ entire roster right now.

If this guy is on the field, he’s a threat with his long speed. I would love to see him get an opportunity in the return game, and hopefully the Broncos have been having him work towards that.

He hasn’t done it a ton in his football career, which is pretty surprising, to be honest, but that’s not to say he couldn’t do it. With his speed and playmaking ability, the return game could be a fun way to get this guy involved.

Mike Boone, RB

When the Broncos signed Mike Boone, his versatility on special teams was pitched as one of his most desirable attributes.

He hasn’t returned a lot of kickoffs in regular season action but he’s capable, and as we saw against the Kansas City Chiefs, he looks explosive and ready to make an impact.

Tyrie Cleveland (practice squad WR)

Although Tyrie Cleveland was waived last week to make room on the roster for Damarea Crockett, he’s back on the practice squad and he could also be considered for kickoff return duties.

He’s done it for the Broncos before and he has tremendous long speed. He doesn’t have the best vision in the return game but he’s one of the many options this team has if they are making a change from Diontae Spencer.
