Teddy Bridgewater has to play well for the Denver Broncos to get an upset

Does anybody really take the Denver Broncos seriously right now, at least in terms of being a playoff team?

It’s hard to see it.

The Broncos have gotten plenty of respect for their big wins, but there remains a healthy skepticism thanks to the inconsistent play of the Denver offense, led by Teddy Bridgewater.

Bridgwater started the season in impressive fashion, playing efficient football, distributing the ball to the receivers and tight ends, and even though he wasn’t looking like an MVP, the Broncos won their first three games of the season.

During a four-game losing streak, Bridgewater’s effective play simply wasn’t there, and the Broncos’ offense looked just like it has since the 2015 season — lucky to convert a third-down much less put a bunch of points on the board.

Over the last month, the team is 3-1, and in half of those games, Bridgewater’s play has been lackluster, to say the least. Before the bye week, Bridgewater’s approval rating in Broncos Country hit an all-time low with his effort on a fumble recovery for a touchdown by Eagles cornerback Darius Slay.

It seemed like he carried a chip on his shoulder after the bye week with the sour taste of that play in his mouth. He played through an ugly shin bruise to help the Broncos beat the Chargers 28-13 while going 8-for-11 on third downs and 3-for-3 in the red zone.

If Teddy Bridgewater plays well in this game, the Denver Broncos are going to win. They have beaten Justin Herbert and Dak Prescott in two of their last three games. If they can beat those guys, why would they not be able to beat Patrick Mahomes?
