Denver Broncos mock draft: Playing it conservative at quarterback
Denver Broncos add to their pass rush with Cameron Thomas
2b (from Rams): Cameron Thomas, DL, San Diego State
The Denver Broncos’ defensive line has some nice pieces, but George Paton could stand to add some additional talent here.
Dre’Mont Jones is the centerpiece of this unit going forward, and he’s been tremendous since being picked in the third-round out of Ohio State in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Shelby Harris will still have another two years under contract beyond this season, and the Broncos have other intriguing depth guys like young McTelvin Agim coming on this season a little bit.
A player like Cameron Thomas out of San Diego State, who has been terrorizing quarterbacks all season long in the Mountain West, would be an absolute steal in the second round.
Before all is said and done, don’t be shocked if this guy gets some round one hype. The way his long arms stand out on tape is reminiscent of guys like Chris Jones and JJ Watt. He utilizes them well, too, disengaging from defenders with outstanding swim moves and a violent initial strike.
His effort on every play is admirable, and that hustle has earned him one of the highest pressure rates in the country this season.
