Trevor Penning tops latest Denver Broncos 2022 mock draft

1. First round: Trevor Penning, OT, Northern Iowa

If the Denver Broncos are going to stick with Teddy Bridgewater or go with a more modest veteran acquisition in 2021 than a player like Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson, one of the top priorities in the 2022 NFL Draft should be the right tackle position.

Thankfully for the Broncos, there should be no shortage of players at that position available.

Some of the possibilities would require a player moving from the left side to the right, as would be the case here with Trevor Penning, but that’s certainly not outside the realm of possibility.

Right now, the Broncos are projected to finish with the 17th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, and looking ahead, being able to get Penning in this slot will probably be a laughable idea the more people get to know him and actually see him play.

Penning is extremely highly regarded in NFL scouting circles at this point and some have been giving him some top-10 love.

That’s only going to ramp up.

For the time being, he’s available in this slot of the mock draft machines, so we’re taking him.

Penning has incredible size, length, punishing hands, great movement skills, and a killer instinct out there. In my mind, he would complete the starting five of the future for the Denver Broncos with Garett Bolles, Dalton Risner, Lloyd Cushenberry, and Quinn Meinerz to his left.
