The Denver Broncos have a chance to get both starting tackles back for their game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football.

The Denver Broncos played last week’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers with backups and both tackle positions, as left tackle Garett Bolles was out due to COVID-19 protocols and an ankle injury, and Bobby Massie was out also with an injury to his own ankle. There appears to be some good news on the horizon, though.

According to Broncos head coach Vic Fangio, the team has a chance to get both Bolles and Massie back in time for the upcoming game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Bolles needs to pass two COVID tests this week in order to be eligible to return to action and Massie obviously will need to show that he’s recovered enough from his injury to play, something he wasn’t able to do last week.

Calvin Anderson filled in for Anderson against the Chargers but suffered a knee injury that will force him to miss some time.

The Broncos signed Bolles to a contract extension nearly one year ago after declining his fifth-year option. It appears to have been a good decision. Bolles struggled the first several years of his career, committing penalty after penalty to the point that it was becoming a joke to the fan base.

While he still has some issues with penalties, Bolles has drastically improved and seems to have the last laugh. Everybody on the team and in the fan base should be more than happy that that has turned out to be the case. Bolles has committed just three penalties this season and given up five sacks.

I’ll knock on wood after that last sentence.

I’ve been very impressed with how Massie has played for the Denver Broncos so far. After many years of struggling at finding a long-term right tackle, I believe that the team finally found the guy in Massie. He has committed zero penalties this season and has given up five sacks.

Teddy Bridgewater has been sacked 27 times this season.
