The Denver Broncos Are Still in Playoff Contention.. For Now

Though it certainly may not feel like it, the Denver Broncos are still in playoff contention, and if they returned to the form and swagger they displayed in their first three games, this team could still be a playoff team.

Of course, a lot of things would need to happen.

Taking a glance at the current AFC Playoff Picture, realistically, the best the team could do is secure that coveted and relatively new third Wildcard spot, or the seventh overall seed. That seed, as of now, belongs to the Buffalo Bills, though the Pittsburgh Steelers are breathing down their neck.

They are currently four teams ahead of the Denver Broncos vying to take that Wild Card spot from the Bills: Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, Cleveland, and Las Vegas.

Of course, Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Las Vegas all currently own tiebreakers over the Broncos.

To even keep the conversation alive, the Broncos would need to start winning, and hope they get some help along the way.

As of now, not only are the Raiders one spot ahead of the Broncos in the division, they are also one spot ahead in the playoff race. A Raiders loss would give the Broncos a great opportunity to jump up with a win against the Chargers.

Until elimination, we can keep the optimism that this team can turn things around, even if the team and Broncos Country are channeling their inner Bon Jovi and livin’ on a prayer.
