November 24, 2005 vs. Dallas Cowboys

This was certainly the most exciting game the Broncos ever played on Thanksgiving as they went into Dallas and defeated the Cowboys in overtime, 24-21.

The game also featured two good football teams as the Cowboys came in at 7-3 while the Broncos were 8-2.

Denver got on the board first in a game that was tightly contested throughout when Champ Bailey returned an interception of Drew Bledsoe 65 yards for a touchdown. But the Cowboys kept pace and scored on a 4-yard touchdown pass from Bledsoe to Jason Witten with just a little over one minute to play in the game.

But the day belonged to Ron Dayne, who had one of his best games as a pro in this one.

Dayne was not even the Broncos’ primary running back but he made the biggest plays in this game, including a 55-yard scamper in overtime to set up Jason Elam’s game-winning 24-yard field goal.

Dayne finished the game with 98 yards rushing and a touchdown on just seven carries. This was by far his most memorable game as a Bronco as that was his only season with the team.
