Todd Bowles a head coach option for the Broncos?

3. Todd Bowles (Buccaneers DC)

Todd Bowles is a very good defensive coordinator.

Since his only opportunity as an NFL head coach was with the New York Jets, it’s hard to really know how to accurately judge him in that regard.

It did not go well, though the team did win 10 games in Bowles’ first season on the job, just narrowly missing the playoffs.

When you look at guys on the head coaching circuit with solid track records, Bowles is near the top of the list. His defense in Tampa Bay was magnificent in the 2020 season, especially so in the 2020 playoffs when they shut down Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl in impressive fashion.

At the age of 57, Bowles is due for another head coaching gig in the NFL.

He’s one of the rare people in the world who has won a Super Bowl as both a player and a coach at the NFL level.

It would be fascinating to see what kind of offensive coach Bowles would bring with him to Denver, since he would basically be a spot-for-spot replacement with Vic Fangio.
