Doug Pederson a head coach candidate for the Broncos?

1. Doug Pederson (taking the year off)

It’s not every day a former Super Bowl-winning head coach is available for teams to pursue, but that’s the case in 2022 as Doug Pederson returns to the coaching world.

Pederson has gotten plenty of flak for the way things ended in Philadelphia, and there are many who believe his success was largely due to the presence of Frank Reich on the coaching staff.

While Reich is certainly a tremendous coach in his own right, Pederson is a good head coach and has certainly had time to reflect on how different things would need to be this time around.

Considering the fact that he’s also taking the year off, Pederson has had plenty of time to think about what his staff would look like at his next stop, and there would not need to be any real delay in hiring him unless he goes on a lengthy tour of interviews.

Pederson could come to Denver along with an offensive coordinator like Mike Kafka (Chiefs passing game coordinator/QB coach), Darrell Bevell (Jaguars OC), or maybe Press Taylor (offensive assistant, Colts) and let one of those guys run the actual offense while he manages the team, similar to what Mike McCarthy is doing in Dallas.

Again, it’s not every year that you get the chance to hire a head coach that has a Super Bowl ring as a head coach. Pederson would be able to assemble a tremendous staff in Denver and could be the proven option this team needs.
