2. Melvin Gordon, RB

Melvin Gordon giveth, and Melvin Gordon taketh away.

Gordon has been a touchdown machine in his time in the NFL, for the most part, but as a member of the Denver Broncos, he also has a number of fumbles that come at really bad times.

Is there ever a good time to fumble?

Some are worse than others, no doubt.

With the Denver Broncos needing a touchdown to tie against the Philadelphia Eagles, Justin Simmons came up with an interception and the offense was approaching scoring range. On 4th-and-1, Vic Fangio decided to go for it and give the ball to Melvin Gordon, who was fighting for the line to gain when he fumbled.

The Eagles recovered and wound up scoring a touchdown on the recovery.

For an average of $8 million per year, we shouldn’t be talking about Gordon fumbling as much as we have been. Considering all that was on the line going into the bye week, Gordon should be demoted to RB2 duties and rookie Javonte Williams should be featured the rest of the way.
