Denver Broncos: Waiver claims the team should make after trade deadline

2. DeSean Jackson, WR

The Denver Broncos lost their top speed option at the wide receiver position when KJ Hamler went down for the year with a season-ending injury.

The team granted John Brown’s release from the practice squad when he asked for it, but people need to remember the other important detail about that transaction. The Broncos were not promoting Brown to the 53-man roster, which is why he asked for his release.

It’s time for the Denver Broncos to adequately replace KJ Hamler in the offense and at least give the optics they are going to try and get things right on that side of the ball this season.

DeSean Jackson is subject to waivers now that the trade deadline has passed, so he will be a bit of an investment, but one that would be well worth it.

Return specialist Diontae Spencer was a healthy scratch for the Broncos’ win against the Washington Football Team. Worst case scenario, why not throw DeSean Jackson back for kicks and punts and let him be a deep threat in your offense?

Acquiring him would be a much better use of a 53-man roster spot than Spencer at this point and he has a proven track record as an NFL deep threat.

There’s also a chance that all three of the other teams in the AFC West could put in a claim on Jackson. Why would you let him go to a division rival and help them out this season when you could let him help you instead?
