Von Miller has played his last game for the Denver Broncos.

As tweeted out by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Broncos will be sending perhaps the greatest defensive player in their history to the Los Angeles Rams.

When Miller was held out of Sunday’s game against the Washington Football Team, it appeared to be a sign that he could be on the move ahead of Tuesday’s trade deadline. As a result. the last image Broncos fans will have of Miller in a Broncos uniform will be limping off the field against the Cleveland Browns.

The 32-year old Miller will now join a Rams defense that already has Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey as the team is clearly going all-in on winning the Super Bowl this year, more than it already had by trading for Matthew Stafford before the season.

In return, the Broncos will receive a second-round pick and a third-round pick from the Rams in the 2022 draft.

Earlier, I wrote about potential trade destinations for Miller and the Rams were among those teams. It makes sense for a team that is a contender, currently sitting at 7-1, to throw everything it can at winning it all.

Miller is the NFL’s active sacks leader and could be the difference between winning the big game and watching another team do it.

As part of the trade, the Broncos have also reportedly agreed to pay part of Miller’s remaining salary.

Von Miller is probably the best defensive player in Broncos history

Miller was chosen with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2011 draft. He leaves Denver as the team’s all-time leader in sacks with 110.5 and is by many accounts the greatest defensive player in team history, which is saying something considering Champ Bailey, Steve Atwater and Randy Gradishar all spent many seasons in the Mile High City.

Miller was the MVP of Super Bowl 50 in what was one of the greatest individual performances ever put on by a Broncos player.

However, Von has never been as good since Vic Fangio took over as head coach. He also missed the entire 2020 season due to injury.

Miller, an eight-time Pro Bowl selection, will now turn his focus to helping the Rams win the Super Bowl.
