Denver Broncos head coach Vic Fangio made some very odd comments about wide receiver Jerry Jeudy returning to the offense against Washington.

The Denver Broncos are getting Jerry Jeudy back from injury this week against the Washington Football Team, and everyone in Broncos Country seems to be absolutely thrilled about it.

Everybody, that is, except for head coach Vic Fangio.

Fangio met the media on Wednesday and was asked a question about how much it affects the way defenses gameplan for the Broncos‘ offense when Jeudy is in the lineup.

His response was nothing short of staggering.

Denver Broncos: Vic Fangio makes bizarre comment about Jerry Jeudy

"I don’t think it will change a whole, whole lot, but they’ll be aware he’s out there. He’s a good slot receiver. We line him up outside some, too. It may change a little, but not drastically.Vic Fangio (via Broncos PR)"

Hold on one second.

It won’t change a whole lot to have Jerry Jeudy on the field instead of Kendall Hinton or Tyrie Cleveland?

Seriously?

At least Washington and other defenses facing the Denver Broncos in the coming weeks will “be aware” that Jerry Jeudy is out on the field.

These comments from Vic Fangio are simply unbelievable.

Hasn’t he read How to Win Friends and Influence People?

All kidding aside, Fangio will spend five minutes ranting on about how unique of a player Darren Waller is, and understandably so. Waller is a tremendous talent. But the fact that Fangio was given a soft-toss to talk up one of his best young players.

Instead, he was overly dismissive of the impact Jeudy actually has on games.

This is the same Jerry Jeudy that racked up nearly 900 receiving yards last season despite the team’s plethora of QB issues. This is the same Jerry Jeudy that can get separation at the drop of a hat, whose route running is already some of the best in the NFL. He’s outstanding after the catch and can make people miss in space. He has big-time vertical speed and can score from anywhere on the field.

But having him out there won’t drastically change the way defenses play the Broncos’ offense, will it?

The cynics will say that Fangio is right, simply based on the fact that the Broncos’ offense has proven a level of ineptitude over the last four weeks that is difficult to ignore.

Funny jabs aside, the majority realize that what Fangio has done here is pull another brick from his already wobbly Jenga stack.

Of course, Jerry Jeudy is a substantial impact on the Denver Broncos’ offense. Prior to his injury in week one, he had six receptions for 72 yards. He has chemistry with Teddy Bridgewater and should receive a high volume of targets when he’s in the lineup.

Unfortunately, the head coach of this Denver Broncos team missed a golden opportunity to talk up one of his best players, maybe even inflict some fear into the Washington Football Team in the process.
