Broncos: 5 players that need to step up to save the season vs. WFT
1. Teddy Bridgewater, QB
Would the real Teddy Bridgewater please stand up?
Over the first three weeks of the season, Teddy Bridgewater played like one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
If that’s a little too far for you, he was at least playing like one of the most efficient.
The last four weeks? Teddy has simply been awful.
He suffered a concussion against the Baltimore Ravens, causing him to miss half the game. That’s certainly no reason to fault Bridgewater, but other injuries have affected his play in recent weeks and the Broncos haven’t had the stones to keep him off the field.
Despite throwing eight touchdowns over his last 3.5 games, Bridgewater has thrown five interceptions and taken 11 sacks. He’s also lost a fumble. What’s worse, the offense is converting third downs at an embarrassing rate and Bridgewater is at least somewhat to blame for that.
Although it’s not unreasonable to expect receivers to gain yardage after the catch, Bridgewater is missing some open receivers downfield and missing opportunities at big plays with his lack of arm strength.
Needless to say, the Broncos need Teddy to step up in a big way vs. Washington. With some extra time to heal and recover, Bridgewater should be healthy going up against the league’s 32nd-ranked pass defense.
