The last few weeks have not gone as planned for the Denver Broncos. Which players have been the most disappointing so far?

The Denver Broncos have severely disappointed over the last four games after starting the season 3-0. The team currently sits at 3-4, after falling to the Cleveland Browns on Thursday Night football.

There is plenty of blame to be passed around. You can blame the coaching staff for not preparing the players well enough. You can blame head coach Vic Fangio or the guys upstairs for the poor decisions to use both of his challenge flags on obvious plays on Thursday.

The trade deadline for the 2021 season is set for November 2nd, which is less than two weeks away. Some feel as if the Denver Broncos will not make a move, while some feel that a big move of players could be a sign for big things to come in terms of wins.

Whether or not players get moved, there are still some that have been a disappointment so far. Let’s take a look at a few.

Denver Broncos: Most disappointing players of the 2021 season so far

RB Javonte Williams

The Denver Broncos traded up in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft to select running back Javonte Williams out of North Carolina. Many believed that Williams would pass Melvin Gordon on the depth chart and become the bell-cow at the position.

That has yet to happen, and that’s what has been disappointing about him. In Denver, Gordon is the main back and it’s not even close. You get consistency from Gordon, especially when the team is doing well overall.

When it comes to Williams, you get only a couple of big plays a game, if that, on the ground.

It’s still early in his career, obviously, but I don’t think that it is ideal to have just one running back that is producing on a weekly basis. It’s really much more ideal to have two running backs that can be a 1-2 punch.

Also, take this info from Benjamin Allbright:

That’s not good. Williams needs to do a better job of finding the open spots in the offensive line.

That being said, if the Denver Broncos decline to re-sign Gordon following the 2021 season, it’s because of one of these possibilities: they signed another running back in free agency, or Williams has made big strides later in the 2021 season that they’re confident will continue.

For now, it’s a disappointment to not be seeing him dominate on the ground.
