Denver Broncos rookie proving to be a steal early on
By Jordan Lopez
The Denver Broncos have received their first loss of the season as the Baltimore Ravens come into Mile High and win 23-7.
Nothing was clicking all day for the offense and it didn’t help when Teddy Bridgewater went down with an injury (concussion). Drew Lock went into the second half as the starter and it was the same result for the offense. Just absolutely nothing was going for either quarterback and the offense.
The defense was doing well enough but as the game went on, they were constantly on the field and that led to some miscues and fatigue from the defense. The unit did what they had to do and only gave up 23 points to an offense that is really good and unique.
One of the bright spots in the game was on the defensive side of the ball and that was rookie safety, Caden Sterns.
Caden Sterns shines and proves that he was a steal for George Paton and the Denver Broncos.
Caden Sterns was phenomenal yesterday against the Baltimore Ravens despite the loss.
Sterns was playing exceptionally well before he had this stand-out game. He was going in and shining under Vic Fangio and this defense.
The fifth-round pick totaled:
- 2.0 Sacks
- 2 Quarterback Hits
- 2 TFL
- 1 PBU
One of the sacks Sterns made was a huge one in the second half on a third down. He made one of the biggest plays of the game as he had a free hit on Lamar Jackson.

Sterns has arguably been the most consistent player on the defense as a rookie. He has played at a high level and all of Broncos Country should have high expectations for the young stud.
Sterns season stats are currently:
- 5 Total Tackles
- 2 Sacks
- 1 INT (Returned for 46 Yards)
- 3 PBU
For the first four games of his young career, he does look like a hidden gem that the front office has found when they drafted him at pick 152.
The Denver Broncos will travel into Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers as both teams are coming off a loss and will look to get back into the win column. Don’t be surprised if Caden Sterns has another big game as well.
