Kaiir Elam, CB, Florida

The Broncos invested heavily in the cornerback position this past offseason, including using a first-round pick on Patrick Surtain. That said, both Kyle Fuller and Bryce Callahan are set to hit the free-agent market.

Derek Stingley out of LSU is going to be the top cornerback selected in the draft and could also be a top-five pick overall. Hopefully, the Broncos are drafting much further back than that and if they do, Florida’s Kaiir Elam could be a viable selection.

Elam is a fantastic coverage corner and may be as good in that department as any cornerback in this draft. Playing at Florida and going up against elite competition in the SEC should help his case too.

Heading into the draft process, he is going to have to show that he can shed blocks and be a little bit better tackler to catch the eye of a guy like Vic Fangio, but his coverage skills alone make him a solid first-round pick.

Would the Broncos draft a cornerback in the first round in back-to-back drafts though?
