The Broncos seemingly refuse to use a high draft pick on a middle linebacker, but hope to have found something in the young combination of Justin Strnad and Baron Browning.

Josey Jewell is lost for the year and Alexander Johnson will be a free agent at the end of this season. It would be ideal for the Broncos to re-sign him, but even if they do, they should look at better options at the position.

Brandon Smith out of Penn State would be a good option.

Smith started in place of Micah Parsons in 2020 when Parsons decided to sit out the year and he played quite well. He has also been solid for the Nittany Lions thus far this season and should be considered a first-round prospect in 2022.

Smith is versatile enough to play on the inside and drop back into pass coverage or line up on the outside and rush the passer. He possesses the type of physical talent that can make him a game-changing linebacker and if the Broncos were willing to invest an early pick on this position, Smith would be a great player to target.
