5 Broncos players that dominated in the shutout win over Jets

5. Malik Reed, EDGE

The Denver Broncos lost Bradley Chubb for the next 6-8 weeks (although now, it’s more like 5-7) after he had surgery to fix a bone spur in his ankle.

One reason why the team didn’t panic and go out and sign somebody, like many of us wanted them to?

Malik Reed.

Malik Reed has effectively been a full-time starter for the Denver Broncos since signing with the team as an undrafted free agent out of Nevada in 2019.

He has also been very good.

Against the New York Jets, he was tremendous.

Reed finished this game with four tackles, a tackle for loss, two QB hits, and a sack.

Everyone wants to see the Denver Broncos’ pass rush with a healthy Von Miller and Bradley Chubb. Although we may not get to see that much this year, at least not for the next 5-7 weeks, everyone can sleep easy knowing that Malik Reed is more than adequate in Chubb’s stead.

He plays the run really well. He sniffs out screens. He can win with speed off the edge. He’s disciplined. Most importantly, he’s got a lot of time on task in Vic Fangio’s defense.

The defese is in good hands.
