5 Broncos players that dominated in the shutout win over Jets

4. The kickers (Brandon McManus, Sam Martin)

Kickers and punters are people, too.

The Denver Broncos’ two kicking specialists, all kidding aside, each had tremendous games against the New York Jets despite one of Martin’s punts getting partially blocked.

For McManus, it was a massive day.

The future Ring of Fame kicker made four field goals against the Jets, which really contributed to the Broncos taking an ultra-conservative approach offensively. With a long of 47 and two made extra points as well, McManus’ contributions to this game in terms of the final score were huge (14 total points).

In addition to that, McManus also kicked the ball out of the end zone on all of his kickoffs except for one, which was only returned because of a 15-yard taunting penalty on a touchdown run by Broncos left guard Dalton Risner.

The Jets had no punt returns, either, which was a testament to the nice work done by Sam Martin, specifically in this game with directional punting. He also dropped one beautifully inside the five-yard line and it took a Broncos bounce backward to pin the Jets deep.
