5 Broncos players that dominated in the shutout win over Jets

3. Melvin Gordon, RB

It’s tough to say that Melvin Gordon “dominated” against the New York Jets but he was one of the Denver Broncos’ best players in this game, for sure.

Prior to the game, I called out Gordon as one of the players that really needed to step up for the Broncos in a big way against the Jets.

He had the big 70-yard run in week one but against the Jaguars, it was mostly tough sledding.

Against the Jets, against a lot of stacked boxes, Gordon was sensational.

He finished with just 61 yards rushing on 18 carries but also added a key 21-yard reception for a big third-down conversion, and he scored one of the Broncos’ two touchdowns on the game.

In addition to the big third-down catch-and-run and the touchdown, Gordon had one of the Broncos’ best runs of the game which ended up being an 11-yard first-down run capped off with a 15-yard facemask penalty.

He put such a good stiff arm on Jets safety Marcus Maye that Maye had no choice but to reach out with his free arm and grab any part of Gordon his hand could find.

Gordon is running hard and again, these backs are going up against stacked boxes and blitzes an obscene amount.
